Reuters released details of an agreement involving hostages and a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The deal stipulates that Hamas will first free the living hostages and subsequently return the bodies of those who have passed away. In exchange, Israel will free 30 Palestinian terrorists for each civilian hostage and 50 for each female Israeli soldier.
Moreover, Israel will release all Palestinian women and children under the age of 19 who have been detained since October 7, with this process concluding before the end of the first phase of the agreement. The total number of detainees released depends on the number of hostages freed, which could range from 990 to 1,650, including men, women, and children.
The report also highlights that the implementation of the agreement will be overseen by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. In the first phase, 600 trucks of humanitarian aid will be allowed into Gaza every day, with 50 of these trucks transporting fuel. Three hundred of the trucks will head toward the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Negotiations for the second phase of the deal will commence before the 16th day of the first phase. This stage is expected to involve the release of the remaining living hostages, including soldiers, and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire.
The third phase will likely focus on the return of the remaining bodies of the deceased hostages and the initiation of Gaza’s reconstruction, under the supervision of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Nations.
