The IDF has been presented with potential threat scenarios by the Intelligence Commander of the Gaza Division, who briefed security officers in the Gaza border communities. He emphasized that while the likelihood remains low, “even though chances are small, a terrorist infiltration as on 10/7 is still possible,” as reported by Channel 12 News.
The Intelligence Commander also conveyed to security officers that “Hamas’s ability to attack a platoon is still possible and it’s hard to deny that the terrorist organization has such abilities.” He further stated that “today three divisions are inside Gaza and IDF forces have been deployed in the surrounding communities. The IDF is now deployed more widely than on October 7 and Hamas has been severely crushed throughout the Gaza Strip.”
In a recent situational assessment involving the IDF and the Ministry of Defense, a comprehensive timeline was established for the return of Gaza Envelope residents to their homes. This is the first time such a detailed plan has been put in place. According to the decision, residents from ten of the thirteen communities that have not yet been able to return will be able to do so by the start of the upcoming school year, set for September 1, 2025.
The communities set to return by September 2025 include Nir Yitzchak, Netiv HaAsara, Sufa, Kerem Shalom, Ein HaShlosha, Nirim, Re’im, Kissufim, Nachal Oz, and Holit. Restoration and repair efforts are underway in all these communities, with security officers confident that the work will be completed by the designated deadline.
