The most costly residence in Pacific Palisades has been destroyed in the recent wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles.
The expansive 18-bedroom property, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, was valued at an astounding $125 million, according to the Daily Mail, which was the first to report on its destruction.
This enormous estate, owned by Austin Russell, the 29-year-old CEO of Luminar Technologies, was being offered for rent at a staggering $450,000 per month when the fire ignited.
Russell purchased the property in 2021 for $83 million. Before the fire, the mansion also featured six bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen designed by Nobu, and a theater with seating for 20.
The cutting-edge four-story house included a wine cellar with climate control in the basement, along with a retractable roof designed for stargazing. The property’s sprawling gardens surrounded a high-tech swimming pool.
The backyard of this home served as the setting for various scenes featuring the Roy family siblings—Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Shiv (Sarah Snook).
According to the Daily Mail, nothing of the house remains, including its two panic rooms.
As of today, the deadly fires in Los Angeles have already ravaged tens of thousands of acres and show no signs of slowing down.
The current death toll stands at one, with authorities now sending arson investigators to Pacific Palisades to identify the source of the fire.
“The cause of the fire remains unknown, and it continues to be under active investigation,” Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley stated on Thursday.
However, the Los Angeles Police Department told Fox News Digital on Thursday, “We have not received any reports of arson.”
Meanwhile, the city has admitted that it ran out of water from its hydrants on the first day of battling the devastating Palisades Fire, citing reported mismanagement of the water supply and operational problems.
Mayor Karen Bass, who was in Ghana when the fires broke out, has faced criticism for cutting the fire department’s funding by $18 million several months earlier.
