A suspected terrorist shooting attack on Highway 5 in Shomron on Friday afternoon has left at least nine people injured, according to reports. The attacker allegedly fired at a bus, injuring several passengers. Authorities have confirmed that the gunman has been neutralized.
Initial reports indicate that three of the victims are in serious condition, while three others sustained minor injuries. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that emergency responders treated three people at the site—two of whom were injured by gunfire, and one who was struck by flying glass.
Amir Yosman, a paramedic with Rescuers Without Borders, was among the first to arrive at the scene. He explained, “Upon receiving the report of shooting at the bus, I quickly arrived at the scene and noticed several injured people. Together with additional paramedics and an IDF medical team, we provided initial medical treatment, including stopping bleeding and applying bandages.”
MDA EMT Itamar Hachmov described the situation as they arrived, saying, “We arrived at the scene with large forces and saw three injured people lying near the bus, fully conscious and suffering from gunshot wounds to their bodies. We immediately provided them with initial medical treatment on the ground, which included stopping bleeding and applying bandages, and evacuated them in MDA intensive care vehicles to the hospital in stable condition. In addition, additional MDA teams treated a number of victims who suffered from glass shard wounds and evacuated them to the hospital in light condition.”
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from United Hatzalah, Hanan Afik and Tidhar Hozeh, also provided assistance. They said, “We provided initial medical treatment to eight people who were wounded. Three are in serious condition, one in moderate condition, and four were lightly injured. Additionally, we provided aid to people suffering from trauma resulting from the attack.”
A substantial security presence has been deployed to the area. The IDF confirmed the incident, stating, “A report was received regarding a shooting attack at the Gitti Avisar Junction. A terrorist was neutralized at the scene. Details to follow.”
