Several weeks ago, the IDF successfully thwarted Hezbollah’s efforts to develop chemical weapons, as reported by Channel 12 on Wednesday. Specific details regarding the weapons or their production location were not disclosed in the report.
According to the report, which cited no sources, the chemical weapons were intended for use by Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in a potential incursion into Israeli territory. Although the development was reportedly in its early stages, Israeli authorities are closely monitoring this emerging threat.
Earlier in the day, Makor Rishon reported that soldiers operating in Lebanon discovered gas tanks, protective coveralls, and gas masks at Hezbollah positions. The article included statements from IDF soldiers who said they were briefed by members of the Home Front Command on how to respond in the event of a chemical attack by Hezbollah.
The IDF has officially denied this report.
Later that evening, the IDF announced that, shortly before the ceasefire began, the IAF, guided by the Intelligence Directorate, carried out airstrikes targeting Hezbollah’s largest precision-guided missile production facility. The site, located in the Janta area of the Bekaa Valley, consisted of a 1.4-kilometer-long underground infrastructure used for manufacturing surface-to-surface missiles, weapon components, and storing precision weapons intended for attacks on Israel.
Situated near the Syrian border, the facility served as a key hub for smuggling thousands of weapon components and terrorist operatives between Syria and Lebanon.
