One of the FBI’s top wanted terrorists has been apprehended in the UK after evading authorities for more than two decades, the agency confirmed.

Daniel Andreas San Diego, aged 46, was arrested in Wales on Monday, with officials linking him to a series of animal rights-related bombings in San Francisco that occurred in 2003.

“Daniel San Diego’s arrest after more than 20 years as a fugitive for two bombings in the San Francisco area shows that no matter how long it takes, the FBI will find you and hold you accountable,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray in a statement praising the arrest.

“There’s a right way and a wrong way to express your views in our country, and turning to violence and destruction of property is not the right way.”

San Diego has been wanted for his involvement in two separate pipe bombings that took place on August 28, 2003, at Chiron Corp., a biotech firm in Emeryville.

Just a month later, on September 26, 2003, he allegedly planted another bomb, this time filled with nails, which exploded at Shaklee Corp., a nutritional products company in Pleasanton.

Authorities believe that San Diego targeted these two companies due to their connections with a laboratory involved in animal testing.

Described by the FBI as having links to radical animal rights groups, San Diego was placed on the agency’s most wanted terrorist list in 2009.

At one point, the FBI had offered a reward of $250,000 for information leading to his capture.
