Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) met with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu yesterday during a visit to Israel. Following their discussion, Graham’s office released a statement emphasizing the Senator’s unwavering support for Israel and his deep concern about the growing threat of an Iranian nuclear program.

During the meeting, Graham urged Netanyahu: “Do what you have to do to prevent the Iranian ayatollah from acquiring nuclear weapons capability.”

According to the statement, Graham views the possibility of Iran achieving nuclear capability as a dire threat. “In Senator Graham’s estimation, a nuclear-armed Iranian ayatollah is an existential threat to Israel and a nightmare for the world,” the release noted.

The statement further highlighted the gravity of the situation. “The Iranian ayatollah constantly refers to the United States as the ‘Great Satan.’ It is in America’s interest to ensure the Iranian regime does not possess a nuclear weapon. This is a critical and dangerous moment for our friends in Israel and the world at large.”

Graham also underscored the importance of American support for its ally. “It is imperative that the United States is seen and heard as having Israel’s back against the threat coming from Iran,” the Senator emphasized.

A consistent advocate for Israel, Graham has repeatedly expressed strong opinions on related matters. In May, he criticized the Biden administration for suggesting a pause in U.S. military aid to Israel, claiming such actions would effectively “reward the tactics of Hamas to put civilians at risk.”

Additionally, Graham has been outspoken against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). In March, he declared the organization “dead to the Congress” and “dead to the United States.”

The Senator has also issued a stern warning to Iran amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. “Iran, if you escalate this war, we’re coming for you,” he stated.
