Billionaire Dr. Miriam Adelson has now become the most significant single donor to a presidential super PAC for this election cycle, according to independent journalist Yashar Ali.

Ali, referencing newly released Federal Election Commission data, shared on X that Adelson has contributed a staggering $100 million to her pro-Trump super PAC, Preserve America.

Back in late June, The New York Times revealed that the 79-year-old Adelson was preparing to spend $100 million to back former President Donald Trump’s attempt to return to the White House.

Together with her late husband, casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson, Miriam Adelson contributed $90 million to Trump’s campaign in 2020. Sheldon Adelson passed away at the age of 87 in January 2021, which made Miriam one of the world’s wealthiest women.

“I’m pretty sure that her North Star going forward is going to be what she thinks Sheldon would have done if he were still alive,” said David Friedman, who served as Trump’s ambassador to Israel, in a June interview with the Times.

The Times characterized the prominent Republican donor and dual Israeli-American citizen as “pro-Israel and rabidly partisan.”

Originally from Tel Aviv, Adelson, a former officer in the Israel Defense Forces, now spends most of her time in Israel rather than in the Las Vegas home she once shared with her husband.

During Trump’s first term, the Adelsons were reportedly influential in urging the administration to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a decision that was eventually carried out. The Times article also mentioned that Adelson does not have any specific objectives for Trump this time around.

Adelson appointed Republican strategist Dave Carney to head the Preserve America PAC. By the end of June, she had already donated $10 million but was poised to pour $100 million into efforts across three or four key states.

“Up until recently, there’s been 100% spending from the Biden side and 0% from the Trump side,” Carney told the Times. “We will definitely be heard. They will probably spend more money, because they already have a huge head start. But we’re starting the game tied.”

The Associated Press reported on Monday that Adelson also contributed $1 million to a super PAC supporting Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, aimed at bolstering get-out-the-vote efforts for Trump and other Republican candidates.

Trump is currently in a very close race with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, after narrowly losing Georgia in 2020 by a margin of just 11,779 votes, or about three-tenths of a percent.
