Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, has firmly rejected any suggestion of an agreement with Israel that would involve deporting Hamas leadership from Gaza to Sudan.

“Deporting Hamas or its leaders from Gaza is an Israeli dream and illusion that will not come true,” he said emphatically.

He dismissed recent claims made in an Israeli publication, calling them absurd. “The report in one of the enemy’s newspapers regarding the deportation of Hamas leaders to Sudan is a stupid statement,” al-Rishq said. “We said in the past and we repeat and say now, that Hamas is in Palestine, fighting the enemy that is occupying Palestine.”

Al-Rishq went on to argue that it is only logical that the occupier, whom he described as a criminal, should leave, while the indigenous people of the land should remain.

His remarks came in response to a report from Reshet Bet radio, which revealed that in September, Israel had shared with the United States a fresh proposal for resolving the ongoing situation involving hostages.

According to the report, the proposal suggested the simultaneous release of all hostages, the safe exit from Gaza of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and anyone who wished to join him, the release of Palestinian prisoners, the disarmament of Gaza, and the establishment of a new governance system in the territory, with the ultimate goal of ending the conflict.
