The bitter news of the petirah of HaGaon HaRav Avraham Tzvi Shmuelvitch, Z’tl, one of the Roshei Yeshivos of the Mir in Yerushalayim, reached the Olam HaYeshivos on Wednesday afternoon. The niftar is the son of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Shmuelvitch, Z’tl, and the younger brother of HaGaon HaRav Raphael Shmuelvitch, z’tl, who ws niftar about eight years ago. HaRav Avraham, z’tl, learned in Yeshivas Chevron as a bochur and began learning in the Mir after his marriage, where he quickly became known for his lomdus. He was also renowned for his refined personality and his modesty, staying far away from any publicity. His whole world was Torah and avodas Hashem. He left behind 14 children, all following b’darchei Torah and many renowned marbitzei Torah. His oldest son, HaGaon HaRav Yisrael Yaakov Shmuelvitch, is the Rosh Yeshivah of Migdal Oz in Givat Ze’ev. The levaya is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mir and the kevurah will take place on Har Hamenuchos. תהא נשמתו צרורה בצרור החיים. (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)
