President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to address what his team describes as the nation’s “failed and corrupt political establishment” by taking more than 200 executive actions once he takes office today, his aides have revealed.
Among these actions are 50 executive orders, legally enforceable measures that cover areas such as border security and domestic energy production. Others are aimed at ensuring federal employees are selected based on their qualifications, according to a report by Fox News Digital.
Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the incoming administration, stated that Trump will begin signing these orders immediately after the inauguration. Many of these actions will be issued as part of large, comprehensive directives.
Previously, Trump indicated that he intended to sign at least 25 executive orders on his first day in office, Fox News Digital reported.
“This is a massive, record-setting, unmatched first wave,” a senior official explained to the outlet. “This is the most extensive list of executive actions in American history, all guided by a relentless commitment to deliver on the campaign promise.”
As part of these orders, Trump will declare a national border emergency, effectively closing the southern border of the United States. However, there has been no confirmation about whether similar measures will be taken along the northern border.
Details about some of Trump’s more ambitious Day One plans have already emerged. These include initiating mass deportation efforts, with Chicago as the first target immediately after the inauguration.
Another proposed measure includes an executive order that would revoke automatic citizenship for children born in the United States to parents who entered the country illegally.
“On Day One of my new term in office, I will sign an executive order making clear to federal agencies that under the correct interpretation of the law, going forward, the future children of illegal aliens will not receive automatic US citizenship,” Trump stated in a video released in May 2023.
This proposed action would contradict the 14th Amendment and is likely to face legal challenges in the courts.
Trump has also pledged to revoke the security clearances of 51 national security officials who were involved in handling the Hunter Biden laptop controversy during the 2020 presidential election.
Further actions include halting offshore wind energy leases, canceling the Biden administration’s mandates for electric vehicle production, and withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Accord, according to Fox News.
“I want to be a dictator for one day because I’m gonna get going with, ‘Drill, baby, drill,’” Trump remarked during his campaign, referencing plans to boost domestic oil production. “After that, I’ll never be a dictator.”
The incoming administration also plans to implement policies for federal employees, emphasizing merit-based hiring, strict adherence to directives, and a return to in-office work rather than remote arrangements.
“There is a massive federal workforce that has been moving its objectives at expense of the American people — and President Trump is taking command, saying, ‘You will serve the American people and only American people,’” a senior official told Fox News. “This is about stopping corrupt, abusive behavior and re-focusing the government on its fundamental duties to the American people.”
Additionally, Trump intends to issue broad pardons to individuals charged in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, more than 1,625 individuals from all 50 states have been charged with various offenses related to the incident, with over 465 currently serving prison sentences.
