President-elect Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had a productive phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which they discussed various topics of mutual interest, including trade, the fentanyl crisis, and TikTok.

“I just spoke to Chairman Xi Jinping of China,” Trump shared in a post on his Truth Social platform early Friday morning. “The call was a very good one for both China and the U.S.A. It is my expectation that we will solve many problems together, and starting immediately.”

“We discussed balancing Trade, Fentanyl, TikTok, and many other subjects,” Trump elaborated. “President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the World more peaceful and safe!”

As part of the conversation, Trump extended an invitation to President Xi to attend his upcoming inauguration on January 20. However, according to a source familiar with the situation, Xi will not be attending the event.

In line with tradition, China’s ambassador to the United States, along with his wife, is expected to attend the inauguration ceremony. They will join numerous diplomatic delegations from countries around the world to mark the occasion.
