Rudy Giuliani has come to an agreement that will prevent a trial to determine if he must forfeit his Florida condominium and valuable Yankees World Series rings in order to settle the $148 million debt he owes to two Georgia election workers he defamed, according to statements from both parties’ attorneys on Thursday.
The agreement was finalized on Thursday afternoon, mere hours before Giuliani was scheduled to testify in a case that could have forced him to lose his $3.5 million Palm Beach home and cherished sports memorabilia to pay off the enormous amount owed to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss.
Details of the settlement have not been made public yet. However, the arrangement stipulates that, “once certain conditions are met, would fully resolve all issues currently scheduled for trial,” which includes Giuliani’s son Andrew’s contention that the workers are not entitled to the World Series rings, as they were a “gift” to him.
In December 2023, a federal jury in Washington, DC, ruled that Giuliani was liable for $148 million for defaming Freeman and Moss by falsely accusing them of attempting to steal the 2020 election from President Donald Trump.
