Senior Hamas terrorist Khalil al-Hayya, in a televised address, declared that Israel was unsuccessful in meeting its objectives in Gaza. He referred to the new ceasefire-hostage agreement as a “historic moment” and framed it as a loss for the Jewish state.
“Our people have thwarted the declared and hidden goals of the occupation. Today we prove that the occupation will never defeat our people and their resistance,” al-Hayya stated, according to Germany’s DPA news agency.
He pledged that the terror organization ruling Gaza would neither forgive nor forget. He also praised the Hamas-led massacres of Israelis in October 2023, which ignited the war in Gaza, labeling them a “military accomplishment” and “a source of pride for our people,” as translated by the New York Times.
Al-Hayya expressed admiration for Iran-backed groups, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, for their supportive attacks on Israel.
He further signaled Hamas’s ongoing intent to destroy Israel, emphasizing that the group will continue to focus on Yerushalayim and the Al-Aqsa Mosque as central to their cause. “Our enemy will never see a moment of weakness from us,” he concluded.
