On Wednesday morning, Hamas informed Arabic media that Israel had introduced additional demands in the negotiations for a ceasefire and prisoner swap, which they claimed blocked progress on the deal.
However, a diplomatic source denied this allegation, asserting, “Hamas is bringing a false claim that Israel added new conditions in negotiations – in order to avoid carrying out the deal.”
According to Sky News Arabia, Israel is reportedly insisting on the right to veto the release of specific terrorists and is also requesting that the IDF stay 700 meters within Rafah, both of which could reportedly derail the deal.
Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported that Hamas has asked for detailed maps from the negotiators, outlining the precise areas from which the IDF will retreat, as well as clear timelines for each withdrawal.
A Hamas source also informed the newspaper that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to sabotage the agreement by insisting that IDF soldiers be included in the list of prisoners to be freed in the first phase of the deal.
