In the early hours of Monday, the IDF carried out a series of targeted strikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. The airstrikes were based on intelligence gathered about specific terror sites linked to Hezbollah. Prior to the operation, the IDF communicated the potential threats these sites posed to both Israeli civilians and military personnel to the established monitoring mechanism overseeing the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. However, these concerns were not addressed, the IDF stated.

Among the targets hit were sites connected to Hezbollah’s rocket-launching capabilities, military installations, and key smuggling routes along the Syria-Lebanon border, which are used to funnel weapons into Hezbollah’s possession. “The IDF continues to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel and will prevent any attempt by the Hezbollah terrorist organization to rebuild its forces in accordance with the ceasefire understandings,” the IDF spokesperson added.

In related news, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, known for its ties to Hezbollah, reported on Sunday that the United States has assured Israel of a full withdrawal from Lebanon within the next two weeks. The report cited US envoy Amos Hochstein, who allegedly conveyed to Lebanese officials that the US had committed to Israel’s complete pullout from southern Lebanon by the conclusion of the 60-day ceasefire period.

Additionally, the report mentioned that Hochstein had pressed Lebanon to bolster its military presence, elevate its readiness level, and reposition its forces to fill the void left by Israeli withdrawal. Furthermore, he called for Lebanon to ensure that Hezbollah surrenders all its weapons located south of the Litani River to the Lebanese army.
