Kamala Harris’ social media post paying tribute to Jimmy Carter appeared to exclude Donald Trump, as the vice president shared a photo from the former president’s funeral showing all living U.S. presidents except for her political opponent.
The image, which was shared on her Instagram yesterday, showed a wide-angle shot that seemingly cropped out Trump, who was seated next to Barack Obama during the funeral.
Many online followers quickly pointed out the babyish omission, with one commenting, “Best photo crop of the decade.”
Harris’ infantile choice to post a photo without Trump comes after she strongly criticized the former president throughout her 2024 campaign, calling him a “threat to democracy.” However, since her campaign ended in a crushing loss, the vice president has refrained from publicly commenting on Trump.
In the days leading up to Carter’s funeral, Harris had overseen the certification of the election results, which sealed Trump’s victory. Though she didn’t specifically reference Trump during the certification, her remarks seemed to allude to his rejection of the 2020 election outcome and the subsequent Capitol riot on January 6.
“It was obviously a very important day, and it was about what should be the norm and what the American people should be able to take for granted, which is that one of the most important pillars of our democracy is that there will be a peaceful transfer of power,” Harris told the press. “And today, I did what I have done my entire career, which is take seriously the oath that I have taken many times to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
During the funeral on Thursday, Harris did not acknowledge Trump in any way.
Karen Pence, wife of former Vice President Mike Pence, similarly appeared to snub Trump and his wife, staying seated and failing to greet them as they entered the event.
