On Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed that they had seized more than 85,000 weapons stockpiled by the Hezbollah terrorist group, which operates under the backing of Iran, along the southern border of Lebanon with Israel.
The seized weapons included a wide range of armaments, from small rifles to rocket launchers and anti-aircraft missiles.
In its official statement, the IDF explained: “At the beginning of October 2024, the IDF began limited, localized, targeted ground raids to dismantle Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon.”
The operations, spearheaded by the IDF Northern Command, saw forces actively engaging with Hezbollah across more than 30 locations in southern Lebanon. The soldiers identified and destroyed terrorist infrastructure, killed militants, and found and seized large quantities of weaponry.
The IDF’s haul included over 85,000 weapons, such as rockets, anti-tank missiles, RPGs, rifles, explosives, munitions, anti-aircraft missiles, surveillance equipment, and military vehicles. A significant display of the confiscated items is currently being showcased.
These weapons were intended for use by Hezbollah in attacks against Israeli civilians and were part of the group’s “Conquer the Galilee” invasion strategy. Thanks to the IDF’s raids, Hezbollah’s military capacity has been severely weakened.
The IDF also released images of some of the weapons it seized:
The weapons recovered in this operation were far more advanced and plentiful than those captured from Hamas following the October 7 terror attack, which were previously examined by Breitbart News over a year ago at a military installation in central Israel.
Additionally, the IDF estimated on Tuesday that they have killed 3,800 Hezbollah operatives during the conflict, with 44 of those deaths occurring since a ceasefire went into effect several weeks ago. Under the ceasefire terms, Israel maintains the right to defend itself, and Hezbollah fighters have been caught attempting to infiltrate southern Lebanon or re-establish weapons caches.
