On Thursday, almost exactly one year following her release from Hamas captivity, former hostage Mia Schem became engaged to Yinon Hason.

Schem was captured by Hamas from the Nova music festival, and was wounded during her adduction. Inside Gaza, her wounds were treated by a veterinarian without the use of anesthesia.  Additionally, Schem was held inside a cage for five days with five other female hostages, who she has not publicly named.

Since being released from captivity on November 30th, 2023 in the hostage release ceasefire, Schem has been active in calling for the release of the remaining hostages. Schem has spoken at the White House and at the United Nations, calling for the release of the remaining 101 hostages.

According to Yisrael Hayom, Schem and Yinon knew each other from childhood, but only began going out together following her release from Hamas captivity.
