According to a new report from Channel 12 News on Thursday, US President-elect Donald Trump’s associates have promised Israel that all delays and restrictions on arms to Israel will be removed on his first day in office, provided Israel achieves a ceasefire in Lebanon by the time Trump takes office on inauguration day.

Currently some weapons and military equipment have been under an unofficial embargoe by the Biden administration.

Yesterday, the Washington Post reported that Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister and close Bibi confidant Ron Dermer spoke with Trump, and told the President-Elect that Israel is rushing to advance a ceasefire in Lebanon.

According to officials cited in the report, the goal would be to give Trump a major foreign policy win at the start of his second term.

According to the report, Israeli officials are looking for a deal that would push Hezbollah back beyond the Litani River, and allow the Lebanese army to take control of Southern Lebanon for a sixty-day period, overseen by the US and Britain.  Israel is also looking for freedom of action to respond when Hezbollah makes moves to re-establish itself in Southern Lebanon.
