The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Shabbos denounced Israel’s recent military action, labeling it a breach of international law, as reported by Tasnim.

Referencing Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, the Ministry reiterated Iran’s claim to self-defense, Tasnim added.

“In accordance with its inherent right to legitimate defense, stipulated in the Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself to be rightful and duty bound to defend against the foreign acts of aggression,” stated the Ministry.

The Ministry further asserted its commitment to utilizing every “physical and spiritual” resource available to safeguard Iran’s “interests and security.”

According to the Ministry, ongoing tensions in the region are attributed to Israel’s “occupation and illegal and criminal actions,” particularly impacting “Palestinians” and those in Lebanon.

The Ministry called upon the international community to intervene and halt Israel’s “genocidal crimes, war, and aggression against Gaza and Lebanon,” as reported by Tasnim.

Separately, an “informed source” informed Tasnim that Iran stands “prepared to retaliate against Israeli aggression,” noting that Iran “reserves its right to respond to any act of aggression.”

The source further emphasized, “There is no doubt that Israel will receive the appropriate response to any move” against Iran.

Iranian officials had previously warned that any Israeli assault would be met with a “harsh, proportional and well-calculated” response, according to the site.
