Late Sunday night, it was announced that four IDF soldiers had lost their lives and seven others were critically injured when a drone exploded in Binyamina.

The soldiers who were killed have been identified as Sergeant Omri Tamari, 19, from Mazkeret Batya; Sergeant Yosef Hieb, 19, from Tuba-Zangariyye; Sergeant Yoav Agmon, 19, from Binyamina; and Sergeant Amitay Alon, 19, from Ramot Naftali.

These soldiers were undergoing infantry training at the Golani Training Base, which is part of the Golani Brigade.

The drone, launched by Hezbollah, targeted the dining facility at the Golani divisional training camp, striking while many new recruits were in the middle of dinner.

In total, 51 soldiers were wounded in the explosion. Of these, nine were classified as being in moderate condition, while the others sustained lighter injuries. All those hurt were quickly transported to medical facilities, and their families have been informed of their conditions.

According to a statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, “The incident is being examined. The IDF shares in the grief of the bereaved families and will continue to accompany them.”

Magen David Adom (MDA) reported Sunday night that they had attended to 61 people in total, including three seriously injured, 18 in moderate condition, and 31 with minor injuries. Nine individuals were also treated for anxiety.

First responders worked swiftly, providing care and moving the injured to hospitals. Some of the more critically wounded were transported to medical centers in central Israel by helicopter.

Seven of the victims were taken to Laniado Hospital in Netanya. Among them, five had minor injuries, while two were suffering from anxiety.

Six others were sent to Haemek Hospital in Afula, with four sustaining light injuries and two being treated for anxiety.

At Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, ten victims were admitted. Five of them were in moderate condition, while the other five had only minor injuries. Additionally, Rambam Hospital in Haifa received three victims: one in critical condition, one moderately injured, and one with light injuries. Sheba Medical Center admitted three people who were in serious condition. Carmel Hospital in Haifa treated two individuals who had anxiety symptoms.

Meanwhile, Bnei Zion Hospital in Haifa treated three people for anxiety, and Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva received three more victims—two of whom were in moderate condition and one with mild injuries.

MDA paramedic Aviv Cohen, who was on-site, said, “We arrived at the scene in large numbers from Magen David Adom, the injured were brought to us, and we began evacuating them via IDF helicopters and ambulances to hospitals. There was a lot of commotion at the scene, and it was a serious event, but we managed to evacuate the injured quickly to hospital for continued medical care.”

Another paramedic, Rafi Sheva, added, “This was a very difficult scene; we declared it a mass casualty event and treated patients suffering from blast injuries and shrapnel. The injuries were severe, and we evacuated the injured to hospitals as quickly as possible for further medical treatment.”

Witnesses at the scene noted that no alarm was triggered prior to the drone’s detonation. The Israeli Air Force is now conducting an investigation into why a warning was not issued. This event marks the highest casualty count since the massacre by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

A preliminary investigation showed that the drone evaded detection systems, failed to trigger any warnings, and was not intercepted. A siren that sounded in Talmei Elazar around 7:00 p.m., near the site of the explosion, was unrelated to this incident and instead was linked to the interception of a different drone.

The IDF clarified that the drone in question did not carry missiles and was not of Iranian origin. There were reports identifying the drone as a “Ziyad 107,” which has a range of approximately 100 kilometers.

Throughout the war, similar drones have repeatedly breached Israeli airspace, causing damage to various locations and buildings.
