Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a member of the progressive “Squad” known for opposing Israeli policies, once again targeted Israel on Sunday, criticizing its military actions in Gaza and urging the US to halt its financial support.

Tlaib expressed her anger in a post on X, stating, “Genocidal maniac Netanyahu is burning Palestinians alive, bombing hospitals, starving people, and killing aid workers.”

She continued, questioning, “When will our country stop funding this madness? When?”

Danny Danon, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, fired back at Tlaib, replying, “The only ones who burned children alive were your buddies over at Hamas.”

Tlaib, who is of Palestinian descent, has maintained her vocal opposition to Israel throughout its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

Following Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Tlaib criticized what she called Israel’s “apartheid system” and took aim at the US for financially supporting what she described as an “apartheid government.”

Tlaib has also been unapologetic about using the controversial slogan “from the river to the sea,” which she claims symbolizes freedom for Palestinian Arabs, though many view it as a call for the destruction of Israel.

Additionally, she faced backlash for accusing the Israeli Defense Forces of bombing a hospital in Gaza, though it was later determined that an Islamic Jihad rocket was responsible for the explosion.

In July, Tlaib protested Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu’s address to Congress by wearing a keffiyeh and displaying signs accusing him of war crimes and genocide.

Just one week later, she condemned Israel for its airstrike in Beirut, which resulted in the death of Fuad Shukr, Hezbollah’s second-in-command.
