President Joe Biden, after being pushed out of the race by his own party, is reportedly undermining Kamala Harris’ campaign for the presidency, according to several political analysts. His removal from the re-election bid in July due to concerns over his declining cognitive abilities has been followed by a minimal show of support for Harris, aside from a formal endorsement. He has been notably absent from many of her campaign stops.

On several occasions, Biden has drawn attention away from Harris. One example occurred last week when, despite Harris canceling an event in Las Vegas to rush back to Washington for a hurricane briefing, Biden himself made public statements on the administration’s response to Hurricane Helene.

Biden’s actions have been met with glee from Trump supporters, particularly after a series of unusual moments, such as wearing a “Trump 2024” hat at a 9/11 event. His recent praise of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for handling Hurricane Milton further fueled controversy, especially as Harris had just voiced her frustration that DeSantis didn’t return her call.

Tensions between Biden and Harris’ teams have been simmering for months, as Harris tries to maintain her loyalty to an unpopular president while promoting her own vision of change on the campaign trail. Reports suggest this internal conflict is becoming harder to manage.

“Biden is intentionally enacting revenge on Kamala for knifing him in the back,” alleged Jason Meister, a Republican strategist and Trump campaign advisor. “He never liked her. The happiest he’s looked in four years was when he put a red [Trump 2024] hat on after speaking with Shanksville, [Pa.] firefighters [last month] on 9/11. He should just come out and endorse Trump.”

Hank Sheinkopf, a seasoned Democratic strategist based in New York, hinted that Biden’s refusal to fully back Harris might be a strategic move to assert his continued influence. “It would be absolutely ridiculous to assume that he has no resentment over how he was treated or how, frankly, he was forced out in what some would describe as a coup,” Sheinkopf remarked.

“Why hasn’t he appeared in places where he could do some good, like parts of Pennsylvania and states that the president has buoyed during his term? Nobody wants to give up being president of the United States – it’s the one job you don’t want to leave.”

Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy joined the chorus of critics at a Trump rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He suggested Biden may secretly be hoping for Trump’s victory in his home state. “Somewhere deep down inside, in a place that he doesn’t want to admit, I think maybe Joe Biden is actually rooting for it,” Ramaswamy said.

Ramaswamy doubled down on his comments the next day, telling The Post, “I think it’s clear that Joe is still bruised by what happened.”

“I don’t think he would have won [a second term], but in his views, and those of his family, they probably think that they were robbed of it,” he added.

Trump campaign spokesperson Caroline Sunshine weighed in, arguing that Harris doesn’t need outside help to undermine her own campaign. “Harris doesn’t need help sabotaging her campaign because she does that herself every time she speaks without a teleprompter, [but] it’s important to remember there is absolutely no daylight between President Biden and Kamala Harris on policy.”

“Kamala Harris has said herself she wouldn’t do a single thing differently these last four years, and our campaign will be reminding voters of this fact every day between now and Nov. 5,” Sunshine concluded.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates pushed back on these narratives, arguing that Biden has been fully supportive of Harris. Critics, he said, “seem to have missed” that Biden “made clear he was all-in for” Harris “out of the gate when he left the campaign, and has consistently fought for her and praised her leadership to the country.”

“He believes fiercely in an agenda that will move us into the future, away from unhinged divisiveness and extreme policies the country can’t afford to go back to, like MAGAnomics and a national abortion ban,” Bates added.

A source close to Biden’s team explained that the president was unaware of DeSantis ignoring Harris’ call about Hurricane Milton when he praised the Florida governor’s handling of the crisis, describing DeSantis as “gracious.”
