The IDF’s initial investigation into the battle in Southern Lebanon which killed 6 IDF soldiers revealed the soldiers heroism prevented another hostage taking situation.

After the battle began, the body of a fallen IDF soldier was near living Hezbollah terrorists. Fearing the body would be taken as another hostage, IDF soldiers surrounded the building, to prevent any escape by the terrorists. Meanwhile, a drone team identified Radwan force vehicles approaching the area with reinforcements to take off with the body. The drone team attacked the vehicles from the air, eliminating the terrorists and destroying the vehicles.

The fallen soldiers comrades fought the terrorists inside the building and engaged in a close quarters battle.

The entire battle was managed by senior commanders on the ground who were at the scene. These included including the commander of Egoz and the Commando Brigade commander. Tanks from the 7th Armored Brigade provided covering fire during the battle.

About IDF 30 soldiers were injured in the battle, including at least 4 injured soldiers who remained in the battle to fight despite their injuries. At least 30 Hezbollah terrorists were eliminated in the battle.

Six IDF soldiers fell in the battle, and two others fell in a separate engagement on the same night.
