President Joe Biden made a reckless move by publicly stating that he does not believe Israel should target Iran’s nuclear program, according to former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton. During an appearance on Newsmax on Thursday, Bolton criticized Biden for broadcasting internal disagreements between the U.S. and Israel to their adversaries.

“I believe the White House is applying enormous pressure on Israel not to go after the nuclear program,” Bolton remarked on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” He emphasized that revealing such tensions to Iran emboldens them, adding, “What could be a more foolish thing to do than to give the Iranians some confidence that we’re applying pressure, which I believe we are.”

In his comments, Biden urged Israel to respond in a “proportional” manner and made it clear that the U.S. would not endorse an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, particularly in light of the recent missile attack.

Bolton questioned the wisdom of Biden’s approach, asking, “Why give Iran that comfort?” He went on to argue, “That is giving aid to our adversary. I don’t understand that. It violates fundamental common sense.”

Bolton further suggested that Israel might have a crucial opportunity to eliminate Iran’s nuclear capability, which he views as the greatest danger to the nation. “If Israel goes after Iran’s nuclear targets,” Bolton explained, “that could be its best chance to eliminate the existential threat” facing the country, adding that he believes Israel “should take it.”

While Israel could potentially target other sites in Iran, Bolton stressed that the nuclear program represents a severe danger not just to Israel but to the broader region and global security. “They may well want to go after other targets, but I definitely think the nuclear program is a threat to Israel, the Arab states, the U.S., the world as a whole, as a proliferation threat should be,” he concluded.
