Eylon Levy, a prominent figure in international Israel advocacy and a spokesperson for the Israeli government, has faced suspension following his remarks in response to British Foreign Secretary David Cameron’s statements, which stirred controversy in the UK, according to Channel 12 News.

Cameron had expressed concerns about the situation in Gaza after his meeting with Israeli Minister Benny Gantz, stating, “I emphasized the necessary actions Israel must take to enhance aid delivery to Gaza, and the UK’s deep apprehension regarding the potential military operations in Rafah. These discussions are challenging but crucial.”

Levy’s retort to Cameron asserted the factual inaccuracy of claims regarding the stagnation of aid flows. He stated, “It is factually incorrect that aid delivery hasn’t improved. Just last week, we saw a record of 277 trucks. Over the past fortnight, there’s been a nearly 50% surge in food truck entries compared to pre-war levels. Israel’s crossings have ample capacity, and if the UK desires more aid for Gaza, it should dispatch it, and we’ll ensure its passage.”

Britain promptly sought clarification from Israel, expressing surprise at Levy’s tweets in light of the constructive dialogue between the two nations. The UK indicated that the matter was discussed extensively by the Foreign Secretary with Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Minister Dermer, emphasizing the importance of understanding whether Levy’s tweets contradict Foreign Secretary Cameron’s stance and if they represent the official Israeli government’s position.
