More than 350 cadavers have been transported from Gaza to Israel since the conflict’s inception, with the aim of ascertaining whether any of the remains belong to hostages, Kan Reshet Bet reports.

The bodies undergo scrutiny at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, with those not identified as hostages’ bodies being repatriated to Gaza.

Previously, the IDF acknowledged the extraction of bodies from Gaza for examination, a component of the endeavor to discern Israeli hostages’ bodies.

Recent reporting by the New York Times revealed that roughly a quarter of the hostages still held in Gaza have perished, with the actual count potentially exceeding that estimate.

According to sources cited by the Times, a majority of the deceased hostages met their fate on October 7 rather than during the subsequent conflict.
