Bnei Brak Rabbanim HaGaon HaRav Chaim Yitzchak Issac Landau, HaGaon HaRav Shevach Tzvi Rosenblatt, HaGaon HaRav Tzvi Weber and HaGaon HaRav Massoud Ben-Shimon on Motzei Shabbos announced a bitul melacha at the time of the levaya of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, z’tl, on Sunday. According to the announcement, all stores and businesses in Bnei Brak should remain closed until after the levaya, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m (or possibly 12PM) . Also, the Beis Din headed by Bnei Brak Rav HaGaon HaRav Amram Fried issued the following dinim for residents of Bnei Brak: Everyone must participate in the levaya. Melacha should not be performed during the levaya. One should tear kriyah on their shirt without a bracha [if it’s the outermost beged], and if one is wearing a jacket, he must also tear the jacket. If it’s difficult to tear the jacket, it’s possible to be meikel and take off the jacket and tear only the shirt. One shouldn’t listen to music at least until shekiyah. It’s a day of mourning and therefore simcha should be minimized. It’s appropriate to postpone parties and events, even those after shekiyah. (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)
